Star Travel began in 1987 when our founders — a couple with a love of maps and a disbelief that anyone could plan a proper trip from a brochure — opened a small office in Bath.

Nearly four decades on, we're still family-run. Still obsessed with the details. Still convinced that the best journeys are the ones planned by people who've been there themselves.

How far in advance should I book?

For most tailor-made journeys, we'd suggest 6–9 months ahead. For peak seasons (cherry blossom in Japan, safari in the dry season, Antarctica in summer) we recommend booking a year in advance. That said, we can often work to shorter timelines — give us a call.

How much does a tailor-made trip cost?

It depends entirely on where you want to go, for how long, and the level of comfort you're looking for. As a rough guide, our trips typically start from around £2,500pp for a week in Europe, and £4,000–£6,000pp for longer journeys in Asia, Africa or South America. We'll always work to your budget.

Is there a consultation fee?

No. The initial consultation is free and without obligation. We'll spend an hour (or more) understanding what you want, then put together a detailed proposal. Only when you're happy and ready to proceed do we take a deposit.

What if something goes wrong while I'm away?

You'll have a dedicated contact at Star Travel, plus our 24/7 emergency line. Whether it's a missed connection, a change of plans, or anything else, we're always reachable and we'll sort it out.

Are you ATOL protected?

Yes. We're fully ATOL protected (ATOL number 12345) and ABTA members (Y1234). When you book with us, your money is safe and you're covered whatever happens.

Can you help with visas and travel insurance?

Absolutely. We'll advise on visa requirements for your destination and can arrange comprehensive travel insurance through our preferred partners. We'll make sure everything is in order before you travel.
